Every time I watch her during LIVE programming I felt myself holding my breath for her. She is truly the most courageous and loving woman on the planet. We are in the presence of a saint, bodhisattva, higher order being… Angel. she says, “I’m still alive.” The day she isn’t will be one of the darkest days on this planet. ( but I do appreciate great athletes) Thank you for writing this piece.

Honestly I think all the time what will happen if they murder Bisan? How will we take it? She is a truly beautiful soul and I hold my breath like you do! I remember your pieve about her. It was excellent

Western media is the mouthpiece of the settler colonial project. They engineer consent for genocide by democracies. The Emmy’s put a veneer of validity on their propaganda as they are acknowledged by Hollywood for their service to empire by translating the lie of the doctrine of discovery into heroic portraits of murderers and land thieves. Bisan must gall, the voice of the dispossessed, speaking and being heard from within the concentration camp in real time of torture, carnage and other atrocities against humanity, as you say, motivating the listener to also bear witness. Their letter says, only they should had be allowed to speak for and deny Palestinian humanity.

Oh my goddess, Aya! This is a beautiful and absolutely brilliant piece of writing! I am so grateful for your ability to express such irrefutably wise and salient analysis of SEVERAL subjects. The Emmys are truly unworthy of the heroic and courageous Bisan Owda (although their attempt to include her says something positive about whomever was responsible). Aya, I salute you - this post is extraordinarily articulate, on-point in every respect, and impressive!

Wizard Bisan Owda is far beyond the Emmys...unimaginable for the Oscars, Nobel peace prizes...and the rest of those seals of approval that grant momentary illusions of grace...I regret deeply that I am unable to help her directly when she asks me for a $100 I-Phone card help with her reporting...

We are fortunate to be in her presence when more than 170 Palestinian journalists are no longer able to do what she does with her good heart..

That reminds me, for anyone who hasn't seen it, here's Bisan's personal channel on YT, called "Wizard Bisan":

It's surreal to see her transformation from a young woman vlogging about the best places to shop in Gaza City into a hardened war reporter.

A few months ago, she was able to post a few storytelling sessions by the fire in a refugee camp, where she relates the history of Gaza and Palestine.
