A perfect way to describe the way I've been feeling. The genocide is beyond anything I ever imagined as possible, and then the disgusting hypocrisy of the west has shattered everything I ever believed about humanity. The Christians in the west have been utterly heinous in the face of this genocide- not that I've been to any church in the past 15 months, but I know that with the exception of Palestinian Christians, ain't nobody talking about the genocide. The way I feel lately is destructive and dangerous. I want to tear everything down. I want no one to celebrate anything until this genocide has been stopped.

Merry Deathmass, my friends 💔🇵🇸

Exactly, how can anyone be celebratory with what is happening in full view? One thing that is for sure, my grandchildren and everyone else who knows me, knows I have good reason not to celebrate! This is the very day everyone should be protesting in the streets. The hypocrisy of the Christians on whatever side they may be on is appalling.

I go to church and quite honestly I am the saddest person there. Every prayer that glazes over the horror just makes me sadder. I feel exactly the way you do.

I'm so sad to hear that. Do you think other people at church do care but are afraid to speak up? Or do you think they're in denial?

Have any catholic churches started speaking out since the pope has become more vocal about Gaza? I'm curious about churches because i cannot speak about the genocide to any of the Christians i know. It's such an elephant in the room. My (non-muslim) family is afraid to invite me over or visit me because they know I care so much about this and then they will have to think about sad things. So my family have become acquaintances.

We are in dangerous new territory as a culture, and I fear for the future.

It is a bit of both tilting more towards denial and indifference. I have stopped talking to people and just walk on. The reaction and silence of the organised church is the most shocking for me and the evangelicals are the worst. Palestinian genocide and extermination has actually ripped off the curtain covering the altar for real!

Rejoice - God always destroyed Israel's enemies since Moses brought them out of Egypt. See Genesis 12:3.

One of the most apt descriptions of Western hypocrisy I've read recently.

Very well written. Thank you so much for this.

Unfortunately this world has been upside down for a very long time. Probably for hundreds if not thousands of years. To watch genocide be normalized, Jihadists be praised, the UN be toothless, Israelis haplessly breathing in the dust of dead bodies, people walking backwards while looking ahead and so-called world leaders being spineless takes out any joy this season could have had for me. I haven't celebrated these farcical holidays in 5 decades, but knowing that a child's brain is being blown out, a newborn dead in a bomb blast, paralyzed and limbless children, mothers birthing in the field and old men pushing broken wheelchairs, just makes me want to scream, "MAKE IT STOP". Please don't wish me Happy Holidays... there's not even a tiny morsel of "happy" in any of the past 446 days.

All my life I thought of myself as a Christian. Not anymore. Lately I’ve grown tired of telling myself I’m a Christian but not that kind of Christian. I’m not an evangelical Christian, trying to convince everyone they’re wrong and I’m right. I’m not the kind of Christian who sees wealth as proof God loves me and really, really doesn’t like the poor because they so obviously haven’t deserved God’s blessings.

I am not part of a Christianity that claims the label for political power and recognition value while rejecting Jesus as weak and obsolete except for the symbol of his torture death proudly worn as “get out of jail free” token for all crimes past, present and future. And, last but not least, that uses him one day of the year as an infant, for church and corporate goldmining while ignoring his inconvenient

Palestinian birthright.

I imagine there are Jews who feel the same exhaustion explaining they aren’t Zionists or Israelites. They aren’t that kind of Jew. They may even wonder, as a chosen people, what they were chosen for and by whom.

I want nothing to do with today’s Christianity. I believe Jesus would understand.

I always say this about Christmas, if it's Christ's birthday, why does everyone else get gifts? This should be a somber day of making pledges to be more "Christlike". And yet, all that's done is so anti the message. Consumption, gluttony and avarice are not a good look on so-called Christians. If he came back, would he approve of what is being done by his people?

If Jesus came back, the people who will run from Him and attempt to kill him again are his so called modern followers (Christians) as they are so far away from his person in terms of thinking and mindset... They love the fable of Him, not the Reality of His words and person

Shouldn't we rather say Merry massdeath, in front of this global West Deaf and Mute facing a hell created by the hand of man? However, do not rejoice too quickly! These orgies and festive escapades will, be sure, stick in your craw!….

Daily events in this cruel world can mask the aspirations of the creation of beauty, truth and the gratutitous growth of love. In all my years, I have never been swept away by the tangental concept of consumerism related to this day but I have always, and I mean always been enthralled by the coming of a new born child, including my won.

As a fellow Palestinian, thank you for writing this: "Let's be honest, the only option for Jesus is to run from and head on a migrant boat to Europe." What a powerful line! It really encapsulates our frustration with the situation.

I’m glad I’m not alone in my sentiment that there is a great divide between mainstream Christmas celebrations and the Middle Eastern reality of Jesus’ home. 🇵🇸 I actually wrote a whole article about it, too: https://wheredidyasmingo.substack.com/p/who-is-christmas-actually-for

Let’s not shy away from talking about this important topic and reminding others of not only who Christmas is for but also what it’s about! ❤️
