It's desensitization by toxic leadership. It's part of military training. It happens from working in a slaughter house. As a doctor or nurse. A fireman etc etc.
The world seems to be deliberately desensitized to killing and violence. With the weapons Israel has and the lack of weapons Hamas has this "war" should have been over in a few weeks. instead it's been deliberately dragged out in full view of the world to the point of famine and desease. As a result the entire world is being driven to a state of apathy and withdrawal from reality. Desensitization takes time; it doesn't happen overnight. The US is now facing a "mental illness" crisis and help is being widely promoted in the media. Drugs for anxiety and depression work largely by increasing apathy and desensitizing individuals.
Some things to consider -
Gaza has been sealed shut.
Hamas has had no means of resupply of weapons for over 10 months. They have no means to fight.
No reports of the IDF securing the tunnels Hamas is using.
No reported number of Hamas soldiers killed.
No electricity in Gaza. No fuel for generators.
How are people charging phones?
No water. No food. No medical service.
Children are being desensitized from an early age through video games and movies. Video games provide a method of programming for entry into the military , especially now with the use of drones. Flight simulators are highly effective and realistic.
The militarized police have been trained to protect their own life first because it's a dangerous job to the point of killing a child with a toy gun. Being pulled over for not using your turn signal places you into the "he might have a gun" in the "peace officers" mind. Approximately 50 police are killed in the line of duty while 1150 civilians are killed by police. Over 20 to 1.
The increased civil unrest that is occurring all over the world now is in large part a direct result of the Gaza genocide. The US UK and other countries have had the populations divided to the point of being fractured over non issues or easily solvable ones. Trillions of dollars are spent on the military to keep us "safe" while malnourished, losing homes from medical bills, becoming homeless which is now a criminal offense and on and on.
What purpose do our governments serve is the real question we need to ask? Society at large is being molded and shaped by our leaders into non thinking, compliant commodities to be disposed of at their whim.
They can charge phones because many homes have solar panels and storage batteries - because, ironically, Isnotreal has been limiting their power supply for ages.
Consequence of the incessant dehumanization of Muslims by our ignorant politicians and media dimwits. Having lived in the Middle East, I’ve never encountered such warmth from the locals as I did with my Muslim brethren. These right wing thugs should try to pull their shenanigans in East LA. My homies would straighten them out.
Somehow it is becoming harder to be a human being.I have never felt such raw emotions.Never felt such shame or anger.Never cried so much on a daily basis.The inability to do anything to help Palestinians.I am in my seventies and cannot believe that humanity has sunk so low,never witnessed this before.So ashamed to be human.So sorry.
Shocking and should not be surprising as the genocide in Gaza affects us all. I read a book years ago about the effect the occupation and violence was having on Israeli society, the amount of domestic violence and self harm etc was staggering. ❤️🩹 Thank you for writing this courageous and necessary article ,that has left me wanting to weep.
I can very much imagine it. Do you remember the name of the book? I'd love to read it. The sheer amount of child sexual abuse reported in Israel and wider sexual abuse is shocking but if its a systematic method used by the IDF, it will seep into society. The fish rots from the head, as they say.
