A tiny but deeply significant act of resistance in this General Election
I fight against Imperialism and Zionism because it harms us all.
I fight against Imperialism and Zionism because it harms us all. Despite the backlash and hate I receive, I do not stop. It is not out of courage or bravery; it's because I cannot keep my mouth shut when I see something unjust from happening. It just goes by itself, it runs, I can’t control it from speaking truth to lies. My mum tells me not to, but she doesn't understand that I cannot stop it. My fingers also have a mind of their own. They will make me type and to hell with the fear of reprisals, I have no choice, I am compelled.
I fight Imperialism and Zionism because it destroys us all. From Gillingham to Gaza, Poland to Pakistan, Stockport to Sudan, it places its boot on the neck of our earth and suffocates us all. War, climate change, genocide, destruction of communities, it all leads back to the two-headed monster, the two sides of the same coin, the twin evils of the day whose tentacles are long and whose claws strike deep.
I represented the workers party in the last election because it was the only party who understood the dual and most pressing evil of our day. It was the only party who understood it to be the root of all major problems not only of the entire globe but for the people of Britain - from the cost of living crisis and sewage in rivers (not a single river is classified as healthy in England), to the decimation of the NHS and falling academic attainments - all of this is a product of status quo and relentless neoliberal ideology, and imperialistic dogma. Everyone knows it; but only the workers party had the guts to say it and declare it so. They were the only ones committed to truly tackling these root causes and not merely the symptoms they cause.
So with that in mind, I asked the election office to put on my ballot the following:
Workers Party - For Britain, For Gaza.
And forever will it be in that in this general election, when a man with unwavering commitment to the genocidal Israeli regime won a super majority and ultimate power of the UK, we gave people a choice to vote against the annihilation of the people of Gaza. And in an election when a man commited unequivocally to Zionism won the Prime Ministership, thousands of people put a cross next to the declaration;
For Britain, For Gaza
And may all the books of history remember them as the truest and most courageous heros of these dark days.
Aya, thanks so much for your honesty, courage and integrity.
There are many who can't keep our mouths shut or are fingers still. I hope we can find ways to support each other everywhere.
Imperialism is global, and resistance needs to be just as global and just as organized.
